Job description
A multinational company that services commercial vessels, tugs, ferries, military craft, and yachts is seeking a marine mechanic with experience working on MTU engines. The candidate will be performing preventative maintenance and repair for boats at different sites.
Job Type, Location and Travel Requirements
· If based in San Leandro, CA, or San Diego, CA overnight travel required will be 10-15% of the time
· Candidates can also live anywhere in the U.S. and travel 75% of the time (for 3-5 weeks at a time) to job sites
· Company truck will be provided depending on location and all travel expenses (airfare, gas, hotels and food) will be covered

Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and diagnose MTU marine engines
- Perform engine overhauls and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose and repair marine electronics systems
- Conduct sea trials
- Maintain records and reports of maintenance performed
- Communicate in a professional manner
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with marine large bore diesel engines
- MTU marine engines or Caterpillar preferred
- MCS/RCS electronics experience preferred
- Diasys software experience a plus
- Ability to read and understand manuals
- Ability to work with no supervision
- Ability to use laptop/computer
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- U.S. passport ideal for international travel but not required
